Say no to mow and let your grass grow

Traditional lawns are falling out of favor because of their environmental footprint and the effects on wildlife, particularly pollinators. For the entire month of April, Cumberland River Compact has partnered with Metro Nashville in encouraging Davidson County residents to let their yards grow in an effort to improve water quality, reduce carbon emissions and create healthy habitats. It’s also a good idea to hold off a bit longer on garden cleanup to allow those overwintering pollinators a chance to complete their life cycle and emerge during the consistent warm days of April. It’s the least we can do for these important and often overlooked wild friends!
