Volunteer Spotlight:
Bonner Black

Harmony Wildlife loves Bonner! Check out her Insta.

Bonner is from Hot Rock, Tennessee and has lived in Nashville for 12 years. She’s a singer-songwriter and bird watcher.  In March of 2023, Bonner joined the volunteer team at Harmony.

Why did you choose to volunteer?

Growing up in rural Tennessee with nothing but farms, hills, and forest, I know how beautiful our state is and how important the balance of our ecosystem is. I loved growing up among the wildlife and I want to be a part of it in a deeper way…. and because the animals are so cute of course!

What do you enjoy about volunteering?

I love learning from Peggy and Mel, watching the animals heal and become more independent, and feeding the baby opossums!

What is your favorite animal and why?

Baby opossums… because they love me.

What is your favorite wildlife story?

When I was a little girl, my mom almost stepped on an opossum in our garage. It scared her so much she ran all the way down to the barn and locked herself in a stall for an hour. I send her an opossum picture after every one of my shifts and I have yet to make her love them as much as I do, but there’s still time yet….

What are your hobbies?

Bird watching, hiking, and candle making!

What is next on your bucket list?

Birding in Alaska during migration!

What is one thing about you that most people don’t know?

I have 192 bird species on my list for 2024!
