Mowing safety tips
(for animals)

Oh no, so much to mow

If you participated in No Mow April you may be eager to let loose with that weed wacker or mower. Plants are taller — more inviting for wildlife — and critters are likely hiding in there. To avoid accidentally injuring or killing bunnies, birds, turtles, snakes, lizards and others, thoroughly inspect areas before trimming. Always use the highest setting so blades aren’t close to the ground. We recommend these practices year-round because many of our patients are accidental landscaping victims.

No worries if you missed No Mow April! Any month is a good month to re-wild your yard! Want to learn more? Check out a local non-profit called The Habitat Connection

Good luck in your rewilding journey, and thank you for being a friend to wildlife!
